What are the main features of a Goods In Transit Insurance Policy?

Main Features

Designed for couriers, delivery companies, hauliers, food delivery and removal companies to cover the goods they carry during transit against damage (accidental or as a result of a motor accident), loss or theft
Different levels of cover are available including those to meet specific contractual requirements such as RHA Conditions of Carriage (set liability per tonne) and CMR.
Alternatively, you may need to consider the cover amount you need by looking at the value of goods you regularly transport. Accuracy is important, as too much could lead to you paying more than you need to but it can also be a costly mistake to underinsure your goods should a claim arise.
Goods in Transit cover can often be combined with liability insurance such as Public Liability, Employer’s Liability and Product Liability.
Some policies may cover refrigerated items (e.g. if the control unit fails and the goods become spoiled) – this should be discussed with your advisor as this feature may not be covered as standard
Additional cover is available depending on the nature of your business and the goods you carry such as high-risk items, hazardous goods, perishable goods, livestock cover and tool cover.
